USDA approves Vista vaccines for pregnant cows

November 8, 2013
Beef and dairy producers can now vaccinate pregnant cows – and calves nursing pregnant cows – against bovine reproductive and respiratory diseases with Vista, a modified-live viral (MLV) vaccine line from Merck Animal Health. Reproductive diseases account for economic losses of $1 billion annually, according to the company, and bovine respiratory disease (BRD) is the most prevalent disease in calves older than 30 days. Approved by the USDA, the new indication adds another level of protection and management flexibility.
