Chinese company partners with DFA to build $100 million Kansas plant

Dairy Farmers of America (DFA) and Chinese company Inner Mongolia Yili Industrial Group announced a new $100 million milk processing plant to be built in Kansas. Though the exact location hasn’t been announced, it will likely be in western Kansas, close to the highest concentration of milk producers.

Darigold president, CEO announces retirement

The farmer-owned cooperative, Northwest Dairy Association (NDA) and its wholly-owned subsidiary Darigold Inc., has announced the retirement of its president and CEO, Jim Wegner. Wegner plans on retiring on Jan. 1, 2016. Until that date, Wegner will act as executive vice president of special projects, assisting the interim president and CEO, William Krippaehne.

New Riverview dairy, Meadow Star, approved in Minnesota

St. Johns Township Board has recently given a conditional use permit for a new dairy to Riverview LLP, owner of eight large dairies in Minnesota and South Dakota, which together milk approximately 45,000 cows. The location under consideration is west of Willmar, in west-central Minnesota.
