Range Beef Cow Symposium headed to South Dakota

The Range Beef Cow Symposium will be Dec. 3-5 in Rapid City, South Dakota, at the Rushmore Convention Center. The RBCS is held every two years on a rotating basis as a joint effort through South Dakota State, Colorado State, Wyoming and Nebraska universities. It is in-service training for cow-calf ranchers, with presentations and speakers focusing on industry issues, genetics, reproduction, range and forage management, cattle health, nutrition and more.

Kubota enters hay tools and spreaders market

102413_kubotaKubota Tractor Corp. (KTC) says it will enter the U.S. hay market in 2014 with an all-new line of hay tools. The new machinery expands the company’s offerings in the agricultural market, and will allow its dealers to serve as a convenient destination for tractors, hay implements and spreaders.

The new implements will be produced by Kverneland Group (KG), an international company that develops, produces and distributes agriculture machinery.

Technologies showcased during Innovation Dairy Tour


October 24, 2013
Dairy producers from 12 states recently attended the two-day 2013 Innovation Dairy Tour in western Michigan, hosted by GEA Farm Technologies, to see industry-leading technologies in action on five innovative dairies. Some of the things they saw included an automatic teat dipping system, a robotic milking system and several other new industry innovations. Producers "learned first-hand how to improve parlor efficiency, milk quality and overall herd performance," said President and CEO Matt Daley.

Feds extend comment period on wolf-listing proposals

October 24, 2013
As a result of delays caused by the lapse in federal appropriations, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on Thursday announced rescheduled dates for the remainder of a series of public hearings on two proposed rules — one to list the Mexican wolf as an endangered subspecies and delist the gray wolf elsewhere, and the other to improve recovery efforts for the Mexican wolf in the Southwest.
