Dear Editor, I was very disappointed in the article by the Dartmouth professor, Kirk Kardashian, on “Freedom vs. Security for the Dairy Farm.” I was hoping for a balanced and unbiased article … which it was not.

I recently signed up for LinkedIn, which automatically sends a connection request to all the LinkedIn members in your email account. As a result, I got responses from a handful of people I hadn’t talked to in years.

It’s always perplexing to me to hear visitors to Arizona in July remark, “Man, it’s really hot here!” Well, duh.

Historically, heifer programs have been a source of widely varied growth patterns. Dairy producers that could produce more heifers than needed generated additional revenue by selling extra heifers for a premium.

The West was peppered with bad guys whose conduct was misunderstood. Yet today we treat them as heroes, like they were a Robin Hood.

With the drought of 2012 nearing the rearview mirror, we enter 2013 fall harvest with much more optimism as crops across Ontario look much better than the previous year. Sitting back and looking at the big picture, I think that now is the time to truly replenish on-farm feed reserves that have been drastically depleted over the past 12 months.
