Minnesota senator urges waiver of USDA rules against harvesting emergency forage crops

Sen. Al Franken (D-Minnesota) is urging U.S. Secretary of Agriculture to take action to help alleviate the shortfalls of feed for the state’s livestock. In a statement released by his office, Franken is pushing to waive a prohibition that prevents farmers from planting hay on prevented-planting acres.

Harrisburg creates giant sundae to celebrate 76th June Dairy Month

Pennsylvania’s dairy promotion organizations celebrated June Dairy Month with the creation of a colossal ice cream sundae built recently during the Family Favorites Festival in Harrisburg. Volunteers created the giant sundae using 90 gallons of Turkey Hill vanilla ice cream.
