Have you watched the Olympics lately? With the summer 2020 games being held last June, and the winter games in Beijing just ending, the games have flooded headlines in the last year.

“What should I plant this year?”
“How often should I soil test?”
“Should I till before I plant?”

And just like that – another holiday season is upon us. Another year of milestones has passed, and the next round of holiday traditions is just around the corner. The years seem to fly by, and the time between these traditions seem to be a few days closer together each year.

The 2021 World Dairy Expo was my first trip since March of 2020. It felt long overdue, and I felt like it had been much longer than 18 months since I last traveled, but after two-and-a-half days of absorbing all the knowledge I could and catching up with as many people as I could, I was ready to be home again.

Last week, Sundee (our summer editorial intern) asked me and several others on our team to describe her using three adjectives.

We are more than halfway through 2021. As slow as 2020 seemed to pass, the first half of this year flew by in an entirely different manner.

I’ve heard many farmers, dairy producers and ranchers say they wished they could spend more time on a tractor or horse instead of riding around in a pickup or stuck in front of a computer.

May seems to be a month full of expectation and anticipation. Consistently warmer weather and longer days open a whole new world of possibilities of what to fill them with. For those in this industry, it means fresh plantings and the start of another growing season.
