October DMC margin is $15.17

Margins deteriorated some in October as feed costs remained mixed, and milk prices dropped due to concerns of constrained production with a shortage of heifer replacements for the milking herd, resulting in a DMC margin 40 cents less than the previous month.

The USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) released its Agricultural Prices report Nov. 19, which includes feed costs used to calculate the October Dairy Margin Coverage (DMC) program margins and indemnity payments. The margin slipped to $15.17 per hundredweight (cwt).
