Zetor re-launches Major Series utility tractors

Zetor North America, Inc. is re-launching its Major Series of value-priced utility tractors in the U.S. and Canada. Pfizer Animal Health unit seeks $2.2 billion in IPO

January 21, 2013
Zoetis Inc., the animal-health unit of Pfizer Inc., is seeking as much at $2.2 billion in an initial public offering. Pfizer is offering 86.1 million shares for $22 to $25 each, Zoetis said Jan. 17 in a regulatory filing. The midpoint of the range would value the New Jersey-based company at $11.8 billion, or about 26 times earnings in the 12 months through Sept. 30.

Suspected case of bovine TB found in Washington dairy cow

January 21, 2013
The Washington State Department of Agriculture is investigating a case of possible bovine tuberculosis in a dairy cow following test results provided to the agency on Jan. 16. The cow had been sent to a Cowlitz County facility for slaughter, but the meat was held after a food safety inspector identified a problem and submitted samples for testing. State health officials say there’s no immediate human health concern connected to the suspected bovine TB case.

Farmers continue to utilize the practice of exchanging machine work between farms, which has been and will continue to be a useful management tool. The “Farm Machine Work Rate for 2012 – 2013” summary report is now posted on Michigan State University Extension educator Dennis Stein’s website.
