American Seed Trade Association names Janice Tolley Walters as director of communications

A month of moustaches

Companies and individuals have hosted events and contests all month long to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues using the noble moustache as their symbol. Movember is a worldwide movement that began in Australia in 2003. The group encourages men to grow a moustache during the month of November to promote awareness and raise funds for prostate and testicular cancer research. The group also raises awareness for mental health issues.

Ethanol for fuel may be reduced
The Energy Independence and Security Act (2007) required certain levels of renewable sources be incorporated into fuels, with levels increasing each year. The level of ethanol mandated for 2014 is 14.4 billion gallons. Based on several factors, the Environmental Protection Agency has proposed reducing that by about 9 percent. Less corn for ethanol production would mean more corn available for livestock feeding.
