The American Bankers Association (ABA) has formed an Agricultural Credit Task Force, a diverse team of bankers who will work to identify legislative opportunities in the 21st century agricultural credit market. The task force held its first meeting in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the Nebraska Bankers Association headquarters.

In a roomful of cattle feeders, an Oklahoma State University (OSU) livestock marketing specialist had everyone’s full attention as he said there is no way around it: In the next two to three years, the already short supply of feeder cattle will only get tighter.

Cash corn prices in the Texas Panhandle have decreased $2.00 per bushel since July. While there is still some uncertainty about how big the new corn crop will be and just how low corn prices might go, there is no doubt that significantly lower corn prices will have a big impact on feeder price levels and feeder price relationships.

Iron Solutions, a company that specializes in providing data and technology tools for equipment dealer profitability, is expanding at its Franklin, Tennessee, headquarters, doubling its office space and adding staff. DeLaval recently sold its 10,000th Voluntary Milking System (VMS) to Glenirvine Farms in Fergus, Ontario. Drawing from a pilot study of dairy processors, the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy recently released voluntary best practices for enhanced dairy traceability. The practices were designed by processors, for processors, to increase global competitiveness, help satisfy future requirements of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and, in the rare event of a safety issue, quickly isolate products to protect public health and prevent brand damage.
