A bill introduced in late June by Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., would require Kings County dairy farmers to prove that they are using antibiotics only when the animals are actually sick, not to ward off potential illness or to make the animals gain weight.

Udderly Kentucky milk brand launched to promote state's farms

July 12, 2013
A new brand of milk called Udderly Kentucky – produced, pasteurized and bottled in Kentucky – is now available in 32 Wal-Mart stores in the central and south-central parts of the state. State Agriculture Commissioner James Comer unveiled the new brand this week and said that 7 cents from every gallon sold will be returned to participating Kentucky dairy farmers.

Scaled down farm bill passes House

Thursday the House passed a farm bill containing a $1.3 billion reduction in annual farm program spending. The bill is almost the same as one defeated last month, except that a politically charged section of the bill relating to food stamps was dropped just prior to the vote.
