New Idaho Wheat Commission building coming to Boise

The Idaho Wheat Commission (IWC) is moving forward with plans to construct a new building in downtown Boise, with an estimated cost of $14 million. The current building, built in 1945, has been known among the agricultural industry as the Idaho Wheat and Ag Center.

Applications open for new telemetry and monitoring grant projects in the Eastern Snake Plain Aquifer region

The Idaho Water Resource Board (IWRB) has opened the application process for a new $2 million grant program that would provide 50% in cost-share funding for telemetry and monitoring projects for surface water or groundwater diversions in the Eastern Snake Plain Aquifer (ESPA) region.

Despite lower crop revenues, livestock sector gains propelled Idaho farmgate cash receipts to another all-time high in 2024. Net farm income is forecast to increase for the total farm sector, but there will be large differences across individual commodities.

Cash receipts for livestock and crops in 2024 are estimated at $11.3 billion, a 4% increase over 2023. Cash receipts for milk, Idaho’s leading agricultural commodity, were estimated to be 11% higher than 2023. Those for potatoes, Idaho’s highest revenue crop, were estimated to be 6% lower than 2023.
