Frustration is a stressor each of us can feel from time to time, especially for those in the dairy industry. From personal and family struggles to rhetoric in our community and prices in the marketplace, there are plenty of reasons to doubt who we are and what we represent.

It’s easy to get off course in the volatile and ever-changing dynamics existing in today’s dairy industry. The 2019 Pennsylvania Dairy Summit program will offer encouragement and guidance to help dairy producers and industry leaders who attend this year’s conference, themed “Follow your compass.”

Robot milking systems have allowed some farms to reduce labor costs and introduce new technologies. However, understanding the cost structure and how it will impact the business has been a challenge for many lenders. That challenge has kept farms in Pennsylvania and other regions from adopting the technology and benefiting from the innovation.

Dairy lenders and financial consultants got an “insider’s view” of ongoing efforts to strengthen Pennsylvania’s dairy processing infrastructure and overall dairy economy during the Dairy Financial and Risk Management Conference on Sept. 12 in Summerdale, Pennsylvania.

With the end of the school year, high school students gathered to explore dairy veterinary careers through the “Exploring the Bovine from the Outside In” Exploration Experience at Meadow Vista Farms in Bainbridge, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
