Most of us consider generational land transfer (parent to child) to be the most common method of land transfer in the U.S. However, there are some interesting changes in the population structure that may impact the traditional way in which land can be transferred.

The Census of Agriculture is conducted every five years and always provides a look at some interesting data. Although it’s a survey, a quick look at the numbers over time can help us begin to understand some trends that might be headed our way.
