The other day, I was driving in Phoenix; I was not sure where I was
going. I turned on the GPS and listened for directions. It wasn't long
before the GPS voice blared, “Rerouting, rerouting! Take the next left.”
I ignored the urgent voice and sped past the turn.

forbidden fruit, the Lord told Adam that the earth would be cursed for

As a grandmother, you often look back on yesterdays and discover gems
that have influenced your thinking and shaped your life. It is often the
simple things that have the most impact.
Several years ago, after my aunt’s funeral, we were in the forest where she was buried. We were ambling along the dirt road, and one of the little girls flew past me, her golden hair tickling the wind. She must have been about four years old dressed up in her Sunday best.
I am always dismayed when I see professional team players kneel for the flag. I wonder if they really understand how much they are dishonoring themselves and the fallen heroes of our county.
In our family, education was important. My dad finished school after he was married because he was unable to finish high school. He drove the school bus transporting students 30 miles to school over rough dirt roads from Heber to Snowflake, Arizona.
While I was growing up, my parents taught me common courtesies. Don’t stare at people. Hold the door open for others. Don’t talk with your mouth full and respect your elders.
In the Taylor Cemetery in Arizona, there is a rose granite headstone beneath a towering fir tree. On one side in the corner is carved a cowboy hat and spurs with the inscription, “See ya later” written beneath the picture.
