I wrote this in tongue-in-cheek narrative several years ago for a church preparedness fair. It’s kind of silly, but I hope you enjoy the message. 

Aujourd’hui, j’ai certes atteint un âge avancé où mes histoires ressemblent à de pénibles randonnées dans la neige jusqu’aux genoux dans un sentier qui monte sans arrêt, mais la vie d’autrefois, ça, c’était vraiment dur!

Sometimes I look at my bank account through online banking and wonder where all the money went. I can track it, but still, it went faster than I expected. I can’t help but wonder why I wasn’t born in the proverbial lap of luxury.

The time thief has struck again. What happened to 2023? The ragged old man with a cane of the old year snuck out the backdoor and the chubby hopeful baby of the new year leaped onto the calendar with a shout, “Here I am, ready or not!”

Merry Christmas! It is impossible to believe that it is that time of year again. The clock is ticking at warp speed. I feel like I was just putting away the Christmas decorations yesterday and now I am taking them out again. 

The department stores gather the firecrackers, flags and the red, white and blue wreaths of the Fourth of July celebration and replace them with skeletons, pumpkins, costumes and masks, mingled with the Christmas trees, ornaments and garland.

One of my all-time favorite scriptures is: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6, KJV)
