Mothers have amazing memories. Perhaps those memories seem so clear because they are unedited. In the early years of this column, my mother reminded me that in fifth grade I had written a continuing story that the teacher shared with the class each day, right after she read a chapter in the book we were treated to after lunch.

Someone close to the late Elvis Presley commented on peanut butter and banana sandwiches. He said you could feed them to the guy (Elvis) all day. I finally tried one some time back. Not bad, but I would not like them as a major part of my diet.
