Can you feel the excitement of the dairy industry as we enter spring 2024? I can! I remember as a child when we got to the month of April, we could hardly contain our excitement, as it meant that it was time to get back to our friends in the cow business through sales, shows and social events.

April will bring the excitement of the National Holstein Convention as well as the Ontario Spring Discovery Show. An active and dedicated group of volunteers have been hard at work as they strive to provide a week of farm tours, fine dining, social events and an elite show with several new competitions.

Growing up on a farm and then raising kids on one can be challenging, yet ultimately rewarding. This was the inspiration behind the creation of a podcast by dairy farmer Arlene Hunter and beef and sheep farmer Caite Palmer.

With high-end genetics, ever-growing production benchmarks and the willingness to share their story with the public through farm presentations, the family tradition of excellence will carry on.

Early in 2012, Peartome Holsteins of Haldimand County, Ontario, joined the ranks of an elite few when it received its third Master Breeder shield from Holstein Canada.
