“The technology wouldn’t have happened without Cody. It’s hard for me to learn that stuff, but he sets up the field on the combine or tractor, and I can just climb in and go. You can’t drive it as good as it drives itself.”

“Commercial watermelon farms in Idaho? Doesn’t that contradict some basic law of nature? I thought commercial watermelons were all grown in California,” says the native Idahoan. Well, this isn’t true anymore.

“The skills they’ve learned, the work ethic, doing chores, taking care of animals have set them up to be successful adults. This is why we do what we do through 4-H and FFA – try to raise kids with those skill sets.”

David and Natalie Nelson are a young couple who try to help educate the public about the importance of agriculture. Their farm is 125 years old this year.
