Known more for turkey production than dairy farming, the rolling hills of southwest Indiana are also home to the four dairies featured on the 2015 Kentuckiana Dairy Exchange. This event was organized and promoted by the University of Kentucky and Purdue University Extension, Indiana Dairy Producers and the Kentucky Dairy Development Council.

Consumers of all ages can get a glimpse of modern dairy farming at New Generation Dairy, located in Owensville, Indiana, where Brian and Ranell Rexing milk 1,200 Holstein cows.

Luke Minich, a fourth-generation dairy farmer from LaPorte, Indiana, didn’t always plan to return to the family farm. His family sold their dairy cattle, and after graduating from Purdue University, Minich worked as a grain merchandiser and futures broker in Indianapolis.
