There are so many cool tech gadgets that are perfect on the farm, from wearables like smart watches to smart home devices for the home or office. But then there are tech gadgets that don’t get the honors they deserve. Here are six of my favorites.

This past January, Republican strategist and CNN political analyst Ana Navarro spoke to a packed house at the Dairy Strong conference. She referred to the Republican Party as “a big, dysfunctional family around the holiday table.” Since most farms are family businesses, I, like most in the audience, was instantly hooked.

I love the radio. More specifically, I love talk radio. I distinctly remember my parents forcing me to listen to talk radio as a kid during long car trips, which, at the time, I found to be very uncool.

Dairying is labor-intensive. Probably the most labor-intensive sector of agriculture. Hours are long, vacations are rare, and you miss out on time with family and friends.

When it comes to dairy farming, routine is key. Everything happens at the same time every day, in the same order. Any variation can upset the cattle. And then no one is happy.
