It is that time of year once again. Six accomplished individuals have been named Idaho FFA state officers for the 2026-27 school year.

Johnston Club Lambs’ market is 95% selling club lambs to youth to show in 4-H and FFA. Lambs are sold to youth throughout the states, from local kids in Payette County to kids living in the suburbs of Houston, Texas.

All in all, as of the middle of February, things are looking more positive in regards to snowpack and reservoir levels. As far as snow-water equivalent decreases through the decades goes, Ekins states, “We are a resilient state and will find ways to figure out how to manage these into the future.” Let us all hope for another good snowstorm or two, and look forward to another prosperous growing year.

Owl boxes, which are small, usually wooden, boxes built to accommodate owl nesting, have been utilized on agricultural land to help with the reduction of voles and the damage they cause. Studies by the University of Idaho show that an average barn owl family (two adults and five owlets) nesting near agricultural land can consume over 2,000 voles within three months. Barn owlets alone can eat about three voles a day until they leave the nest.
