Henria Holsteins Inc. is a family-owned dairy business in Grey County near Conn, Ontario. Henk and Maria Pastink, their daughter Reba and son Gerrit are the proud owners of this large modern facility.

The first word that comes to mind is, “Wow.” The facility is huge, with the main section stretching 1,100 feet (335.2 meters) in length and 132 feet (40.2 meters) in width. This section contains the main animal housing, handling and parlour areas.

It is beautiful country where Kevin and April Werkema live and work. Located north of Woodstock near Embro, Ontario, the farm is situated on top of a hill with a stunning vista just across the road as the land dips into the picturesque Braemar Valley. This farm is home to Werkholm Holsteins, a growing operation.

Andrew Campbell, the “Fresh Air Farmer,” is dedicated to farming, writing and social media, not necessarily in that order.

This is the first winter the Laing family of Laingspring Farm, Steinbach, Manitoba, has been able to enjoy not getting up for morning milking at 5 a.m. Brothers Tyrone and Ted run a dairy operation in partnership with their parents, Ray and Bertha, on a farm established in 1872.

Rosebrin Farms Ltd., located near Chilliwack, British Columbia, in the beautiful Fraser Valley, is the home of Brad and Lisa Roseboom and their family. Brad’s father established a dairy operation in the area in 1957, and Brad came home to farm in 1984. For a while, he farmed with his brother, but 11 years ago, he and Lisa established Rosebrin as a separate operation. Lisa says this decision was made with their four sons in mind as well as to provide an opportunity for their special-needs daughter, Melissa.

Dirk and Betty Willemsen immigrated from Holland in 1983. They had visited Canada on a holiday and had gone home with new ideas to think about.

Clovermead Farms Inc., located near Alma, Ontario, was recently awarded the recipient of the prestigious 2014 Dairy Farm Sustainability Award.

Sunnyglade Farm near Steinbach, Manitoba, has seen its share of hard times. Bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) hit the Canadian cattle business hard in 2003.
