“Holistic management is a set of tools to help farmers make sound decisions with long-term economic, environmental, and social goals in mind,” said Laura Paine, the Wisconsin field day host. “We use it every day in managing our grass-fed beef operation.”

HMI’s Frank Aragona will lead the group through exercises to identify and solve a current problem and create a forum for sharing practices, ideas, advice and solutions to that problem.

The Paine Family Farm Day is on Wednesday, Sept. 18 in Columbus, Wisconsin. The topic is improving farm resilience with native grass pastures and whole farm planning. The Log Cabin Livestock Farm Day is on Sept. 21 in Traunik, Michigan. The topic is healthy soil, multi-species grazing and effective water systems.

These farm/ranch days are ideal for agricultural producers, local agency representatives, and anyone interested in sustainable agriculture. Each event is $20 per person ($30 per couple), when registering in advance. Interested participants can get more information and register on the HMI website.
