Eliminating grazing won't reduce the impact of climate change on rangeland, according to nearly 30 scientists in the western U.S. The researchers, who work for nine universities and the USDA, made this argument in a journal article in response to a debate over whether grazing on western public lands worsens ecological alterations caused by climate change.

USDA to give additional assistance to Californians impacted by drought

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack joined President Barack Obama in Fresno, California, recently to announce that the USDA will provide additional assistance to help farmers, ranchers and residents affected by severe drought in California. At President Obama's direction, USDA has made implementation of the 2014 Farm Bill livestock disaster assistance programs a top priority and plans to have the programs available for sign up by April 15.
