Hall and Hall Auctions and Western United Realty of Laramie, Wyoming, have announced the sale of Snowy Range Ranch, one of the most impressive Wyoming ranches to hit the auction block in decades. Fifteen of the 17 available tracts sold for $10,006,580 on Aug. 23, 2012, with 48 registered bidders from four states participating in the sale. The tracts ranged from 25 to 7,624 acres.

JBS USA, a leading animal protein processor in the U.S. and Australia and a wholly owned subsidiary of Brazil-based JBS S.A., today announced that, as a part of a scheduled succession plan, Don Jackson will retire as CEO effective year end 2012. Andre Nogueira, former JBS USA CFO and current CEO of JBS Australia, will become CEO of JBS USA effective Jan. 1, 2013.

The USDA has created an industry alert titled "Questions and Answers for Producers, Sellers, and Buyers of Baled Hay Moving from Areas under Quarantine for Imported Fire Ant."  This publication contains useful information to answer questions from farmers, ranchers, hay growers and suppliers as they work to respond to adverse weather conditions and find important feed sources for livestock. 

Robin Roberts Webster has won milk for life from Oakhurst Dairy in a contest that encouraged customers to share their "Oakhurst moments" from over the years on the dairy's Facebook page. Webster, of Morrill, also won a $1,000 donation to the charity of her choice. She picked the Morrill Fire Department. Oakhurst says Webster submitted a heart-warming and funny story about her father, Roger Roberts, a 30-year dairy farmer and former Oakhurst Dairy producer.
