Wipe Your Feet: The grass is always greener after it’s been mowed

September 30, 2024
Michele Coleman

September 25, 2024
Julia McCarthy

All those tiny bubbles: A look at bloat in livestock

Legume bloat in livestock occurs when fermentation gases form stable foam in the rumen, preventing gas release. This buildup causes rumen expansion, respiratory distress and can lead to death.

Mountain Home FFA donation steer sells for an astonishing $91,910

A Mountain Home FFA steer, originally expected to bring in $15,000, astonishingly sold 20 times, raising a staggering $91,910 for the chapter’s educational trips.
September 12, 2024

With a goal to make $15,000 from the steer, all of the Mountain Home chapter members, including Chapter Advisor Kya Vines Bideganeta, were pleasantly surprised when the steer sold for $30,000 at the auction. However, this wasn't even the biggest surprise; the buyer Quanta West donated the steer back to the chapter to be sold again.

From conflict to collaboration

September 9, 2024
Cassidy Woolsey

While chatting with a grower recently, he shared a saying he once heard: “You can mess with a guy’s wife, but you can’t mess with his water.” Depending on your sense of humor, that saying might come across as a bit crude, but I use it because it paints a picture of the realities of Western water disputes.
