World Ag Expo is introducing a brand new event: Farmers' Lunch, featuring speaker AG Kawamura, California's former secretary of agriculture. The lunch will be hosted in the VIP event tent on the World Ag Expo grounds, during the final day of the show, Thursday, Feb. 12.

World Ag Expo attracts over 100,000 individuals from 70 countries each year. Of those attending, farmers make up a large percentage: 91 percent, according to the 2014 attendee demographics report for the tradeshow.

“Our team continuously seeks to improve our grounds, our events and our entire show,” says Jerry Sinift, CEO of the International Agri-Center, which produces World Ag Expo. “Hosting the Farmers' Lunch and inviting AG Kawamura to speak fits in perfectly with our vision of attracting those who are involved in agriculture, particularly those who farm."

Kawamura is a progressive urban farmer who has been actively involved in agricultural policy at the local, regional, national and international levels. He is the co-chair of Solutions From the Land, a founding board member of the Delta Vision Foundation and a trustee of both the Southern California Water Committee and the California WateReuse Foundation.

The lunch will be catered by Pardini's, of Fresno, and will run from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. General seating tickets can be purchased on the World Ag Expo website. Admission to World Ag Expo is not required to gain admittance to the Farmers' Lunch. PD
