This is WSU’s second time as the Flavor Faceoff champ. Dale Moore, WSU extension veterinarian, won in 2012 with Ferdinand’s Ice Cream Shoppe’s Huckleberry.

The Dairy Club received a photo collage, featuring images they had submitted, including one of club members enjoying an ice cream party with the $25 gift card all participating universities received.

Although there is no letter “E” in the words “Dairy Club,” the students of Dairy Club have emphasized the “E” in enthusiasm. Everything they do, they do with gusto, and that leads to accomplishments.

WSU student employee

We have proven twice now that when you call on the alumni, students and friends of WSU who believe in what we’re doing and the quality ice cream (and cheese!) we’re making, they show up voting with spirit and full-fledged support.

They encouraged people to vote for Apple Cup Crisp through social media and throughout the college for the Flavor Faceoff contest and got behind Ferdinand’s Apple Cup Crisp entry, which helped make it a winner.

Washington State University Dairy Club

The Dairy Club has been successful in other areas too. This spring, the club hosted a successful Cougar Youth Weekend, an event designed for youth ages 9 through 18 to learn about care and handling of dairy animals through hands-on activities.

The club was selected as the Washington State University College of Agricultural, Human and Natural Resource Sciences “Club of the Year.” To top it off, students recently returned from the American Dairy Science Association Annual Meeting as the winners of the National Collegiate Dairy Club Quiz Bowl competition. This is the second year they were number one! PD
