Years back, Leo and I would occasionally hear the drone of what we assumed to be someone flying the night mail. I suggested to Leo, one time, that as discouraging as things were at the moment, it might be in order to sell the hay trucks, buy a twin Beach airplane and fly the night mail. Leo pondered it for some time, and then replied that in all the years he’d been involved in things powered by motors, he had yet to find one that would not eventually need to have a mechanic called to it.

DeLaval tops 2,500 sales mark of feeding stations in a year

This week DeLaval produced its 2,500th unit of the new Feed Stations FSC40/400 – a solution created to help milk producers maintain greater control over production while reducing input costs. Feeding each cow to her individual needs throughout the lactation cycle increases milk production, optimizes use of feed, helps promote animal welfare, reduces concentrate waste, saves energy and helps cut CO2 emissions.

Maryland & Virginia Milk Producer Cooperative Association hosted their annual Young Cooperator Conference March 2-4 in Concordville, Pennsylvania. Twenty-four YCs gathered to hear about current issues in the dairy industry and build relationships with fellow young dairymen. After some icebreakers and get to know you games, the group was joined by the Maryland & Virginia field staff and management team to hear from Wawa Dairy’s marketing team.

Western United Dairymen convention speakers point to a brighter future

After a year most experts are calling the worst dairy economic climate since the depression, California dairy families were in the mood to hear some brighter forecasts as they gathered in Modesto, California for Western United Dairymen’s annual convention. Several speakers gave credence to the convention theme “To a Brighter Future” as they noted some encouraging economic developments.
