New and improved Noromectin Pour-On 5-liter and 2.5-liter containers in U.S.

August 18, 2011
Norbrook Laboratories, Ltd. announces the introduction of NEW containers for their popular Noromectin Pour-On brand of ivermectin.  The new 5-Liter and 2.5-Liter containers have easy-grip flanges on all sides to facilitate handling and is made of a denser polymer material that improves cap closure.  The new containers will continue to be supplied in a protective carton, with a convenient carrying handle, a webbed backpack strap and applicator cap. Hesston by Massey Ferguson introduces new "extra density" larger square baler

August 18, 2011
Commercial hay producers and large farmers can now create large “extra density” square bales that are more efficient to stack, load, transport and store, thanks to the introduction of the new Hesston® by Massey Ferguson® 2170XD Large Square Baler. To accommodate the additional weight associated with heavier bales, the 2170XD model is built tough with heavy-duty tension cylinders and plunger arms, a heavier fly wheel, and higher-capacity gearbox and driveline to provide the reliable performance producers have come to expect from Hesston. “Since 1978, when we introduced the world’s very first large square baler, Hesston has remained at the forefront of the hay and forage industry,” explains Dean Morrell, product marketing manager for hay and forage. “Each baler we’ve introduced has built on the innovations offered by its predecessor, and pushed the benchmarks for quality and performance higher and higher. The all-new Hesston by Massey Ferguson 2170XD Large Square Baler is no exception, producing a denser bale without compromising the Hesston tradition of proven high-capacity baling.”

In the cattle markets; agricultural supply and demand estimates

August 17, 2011
USDA's World Agricultural Outlook Board released their supply and demand estimates last Thursday. The report revealed what many expected - a drop in U.S. corn and soybean supplies due primarily to lower yields for both crops.  The crop has been hit with extreme heat in many predominant growing areas thus far this summer, which was exacerbated by the delayed plantings putting the plants at critical growth stages later than normal.  Average projected U.S. corn yield was reduced from 158.7 bushels per acre in July to 153 bu/ac this month. Analysts expected a decline to 155.2 bu/ac.  Corn harvested acreage was also reduced marginally to 84.4 million from 84.9 last month, a 0.6% decline, but up 3.7% compared to last year.  Corn used for feed in the 2011/12 crop-marketing year is currently projected at 4.9 billion bushels versus 5.1 billion bushels going to ethanol production. This implies a near even split in uses for these two at just under 40% each. Exports were projected lower as well due to fragile global economic conditions and increased expectations of wheat feeding.
