On Jan. 16, 2025, the USDA announced that the Federal Milk Marketing Order (FMMO) referendum passed in all 11 FMMOs. The final rule amends pricing provisions in each of the 11 FMMOs and is effective June 1, 2025, except for the amendments to the skim milk composition factors, which will be implemented on Dec. 1, 2025.

The USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) announced that 15 additional states have enrolled in the National Milk Testing Strategy (NMTS), bringing the total number of states to 28 in roughly one month since the program launched.

Last year marked an unexpected, yet fulfilling, time for U.S. dairy exports as demand for U.S. product soared in 2024, reaching record levels. Such success is due in part to established and emerging global markets for U.S. dairy.
