The Dairy Cattle Reproduction Council (DCRC) annual meeting was held in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Nov. 7 and 8, 2013. The day-and-a-half event was intense with presentations and a sponsors’ trade show, but the outcome was a variety of topics and good discussion among university and industry people of what is new in research regarding improvements in reproductive performance and in overall dairy management.

Advancing Dairy Cattle Genetics: Genomics and Beyond is the theme for an upcoming conference that will address the future of genetic selection, research and application. The three-day event will be held Feb. 17-19 in Phoenix, Arizona. Leading scientists, industry experts and dairy producers are on the agenda as speakers and panelists.

State College, Pennsylvania, will host the annual Pennsylvania Dairy Summit Feb. 12-13 at the Penn Stater. The event has been held in the Lancaster area for several years. Progressive Dairyman caught up with several presenters of the 2014 event and asked them to share sneak peeks of their talks.

The Dairy Practices Council had a successful annual conference in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Nov. 6-8, 2013. There were approximately 118 people in attendance. Prior to the conference, on November 5, a workshop titled “Food Safety Workshop for Artisan Cheesemakers and Small-Scale Dairy Processors” was held.

The 2013 Vita Plus Dairy Summit was an action-packed, three-day event that included farm tours, expert speakers and dairy producer panels, along with plenty of time for socializing. Check out photos from these activities here:
