Prigel Family Creamery plays African Serengeti

For years now, the Prigel Family Creamery has been trying hard to mimic Serengeti-type grazing with its 180 milk cows in Glen Arm, Maryland. Well, it must be working because in May 2015 the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) called. They wanted to use the farm’s pastures and cattle to test brand new anti-poaching equipment, soon bound for the African savanna.

Kroger encourages shoppers to donate milk to food banks

September is Hunger Action Month, a nationwide campaign from Feeding America – the largest domestic hunger-relief organization in the country. In honor of Hunger Action Month, The Kroger Co. family of stores is partnering with Feeding America and the country's dairy farmers and milk companies to encourage its shoppers to “pour it forward” by donating nutrient-rich milk to families in need in their local communities.

Dairy industry commends introduction of Safe Trucking Act

The dairy industry welcomed the introduction of the Safe, Flexible and Efficient Trucking Act in the House of Representatives. The bill would allow states to increase the gross vehicle weight limit on commercial trucks if they are properly equipped with six axles and meet the same safety standards as trucks currently allowed on interstates.

Losing immigrant dairy workers would cost economy $32 billion, report finds

Half of all workers on U.S. dairy farms are immigrants, and the damage from losing those workers would extend far beyond the farms, nearly doubling retail milk prices and costing the total U.S. economy more than $32 billion, according to a new report commissioned by the National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF).
