ABS Global, Inc., a global producer and marketer of bovine genetics and related products, is currently seeking internship candidates for three positions being offered for the summer of 2012. Positions include an advertising and promotions internship, progeny promotions internship and dairy programs internship.


Based in DeForest, Wisconsin, the advertising and promotions internship position will offer exposure to marketing tactics geared to the successful candidate’s experience and interest. This includes but is not limited to the following: copy writing, proofing, graphic design, website production, internal communications, social media, event planning, office administration and market research.

The ideal applicant shall be pursuing a degree in agricultural marketing communications or related field. Knowledge of the dairy and/or beef industry as it relates to genetics is a plus. Candidates will be considered with evidenced written and verbal communication ability as well as comprehension to develop and complete marketing materials. Experience in Microsoft Office applications is essential, while understanding of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and web content management is encouraged. Students with attention to detail, ability to handle multiple tasks, priorities, deadlines and willingness to learn will excel in this position.

The progeny promotions department is also seeking a summer intern to assist with locating young sire daughters and facilitate picturing and tour schedules throughout the U.S. The successful intern will seek out and evaluate daughters. Upon location of daughters to picture, the intern will coordinate photo sessions and assist with cattle preparation, including fitting. Additionally, the intern may facilitate daughter tours.

Qualified candidates will be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in animal science, dairy science or related field. Collegiate judging team experience and experience fitting cattle is required. Commitment to the dairy industry demonstrated through strong involvement in industry-related organizations or clubs is preferred. This internship requires extensive travel, a high level of enthusiasm, self-motivation, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work independently. The ability to demonstrate a positive, professional image for ABS is essential. Valid driver’s license required.

The dairy programs intern will be based out of the DeForest, Wisconsin, office and will work closely with the dairy programs department to assist in creatively designing and developing training and marketing materials for ABS customers and field representatives. This role will also support the dairy programs team in producing and distributing performance and genetic reports to our global customers.

The successful candidate must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in animal science, dairy science, agricultural business, or related field as well as demonstrate commitment to the dairy industry through strong involvement in dairy-related organizations. Candidates must be team-oriented with excellent verbal and written communications skills, have strong attention to detail, good organizational and problem solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and the Internet is required.
