Stephanie Roggenbuck of Harbor Beach, Michigan, has been chosen as the 2013-2014 recipient of the Harold and Lillian Gremel endowed scholarship through the Michigan Dairy Memorial and Scholarship Foundation Inc., at Michigan State University (MSU).

  • The $3,500 scholarship is named in honor of Harold and in memory of Lillian Gremel of Sebewaing. The scholarship is awarded annually to a student currently in veterinary school at MSU who completed the Production Animal Scholars Program in the Department of Animal Science.
  • The Center for Dairy Excellence presented three Pacesetter Awards at the Pennsylvania Dairy Summit in State College. The awards were presented to N. Sally and Alan Bair of Columbia, Lehigh Valley Dairy Farms of Lansdale and Kurtland Farms of Elverson.

    The Pacesetter Award recognizes individuals or organizations that work to build a positive image of the Pennsylvania dairy industry to create a prosperous, marketable future for producers and supporting industries.

  • Jacob and Elaine Jahfetson and family of Baraga, Michigan, were named Michigan Milk Producers Association’s (MMPA) Top Quality Award Winners at MMPA’s annual meeting in Lansing. The Jahfetsons run a 24-cow dairy that obtained the highest-quality records in 2013 among the more than 1,300 farms belonging to MMPA.
  • Vita Plus Loyal is proud to name three high school seniors as recipients of the 2014 “Our Future is Agriculture” scholarships. This program recognizes deserving students with long-term career interests in agriculture.

    The $500 scholarships may be applied toward tuition, room and board or other expenses. This year’s recipients are Paige Lindner, Greenwood High School; Carly Stumpner, Loyal High School; and Taylre Wilke, Loyal High School.

  • Annie Link of Alto has been named this year’s winner of the United Dairy Industry of Michigan (UDIM) Excellence in Dairy Promotion Award. The Excellence in Dairy Promotion Award, sponsored annually by UDIM, recognizes one outstanding Michigan dairy farm family member for his or her dedication to promoting dairy products.
