The Cornell Dairy Executive Program opened its eighth class December 5, 2010, at the Statler Hotel on the Cornell University campus. Thirty-one participants from seven states and Lima, Peru, were brought together for this year-long program, held over three separate sessions. Participants heard from speakers on topics including dairy operations management, business financial assessment, marketing, and personal growth and motivation.

Participants commented that the group activities were uncharacteristically productive and brought new and old concepts to a productive level.

With the three sessions spread over one year, participants have the opportunity to implement what they learn during the program, get to know other participants, and talk about changes they have made. Interacting with and learning from the other participants is one of the highlights to many of the participants of the program.

Timely topics in dairy business management are presented by a team of national experts from within and outside of the field of agriculture. Participants attending the program can expect to develop one-year and five-year strategic business plans through a comprehensive self-evaluation of their business, while building a network of dairy executives and business relationships.

The program takes place over one year in three multi-day sessions which build upon each other. All sessions take place at The Statler Hotel on the Cornell University campus. A typical day will include presentations, individual study, small group discussions and roundtable discussions with faculty.
