Select Sires’ board of directors and team of employees have made a commitment to helping their customer-owners succeed through research, customized programs and products. These programs and products coupled with the outstanding service of Select Sires’ personnel led to record sales in 2010.

Always with a watchful eye on industry trends and customer needs, Select Sires has continually added novel programs and products. Special designations such as FeedPRO, an indicator of sires passing on the genetic traits that give their offspring the ability to produce greater income over feed cost, and DIAMOND SELECTion, a line of sires that provide a balance of production, type and health traits, have helped breeders target genetics that are custom made to meet their goals.

One of the most widely used programs at Select Sires has been Select Mating Service (SMS), designed to help customer-owners improve their herd and profitability. SMS also achieved a record year in 2010 with more than 4,641,000 matings throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

With standards in place to ensure industry-leading fertility, Select Sires shows further commitment to its customers. Investing heavily in cutting-edge technology and research into semen quality advancements, Select Sires developed its own Program for Fertility Advancement (PFA) to test innovative semen production and extender research. To further aid in the reproductive success of customers’ herds, Select Sires offers reproductive troubleshooting through Select Reproductive Solutions (SRS) and launched the sale of a state-of-the-art Select Detect activity-monitoring system for advanced estrus detection.

While the past year has been a trying one for dairy and beef producers with a less than desirable economic environment, they have continued to turn to Select Sires with record purchases. As a result, Select Sires’ sales grew to surpass 12 million units of semen to its 10 member cooperatives and international distributors in 2010. This achievement marks the seventh year of sales growth in the past eight years and is a result of the continuous improvement. PD
