Beef exports continue upward trend

Elanco, the animal health division of Eli Lilly and Company, has announced it will purchase the Titanium and Master Guard brands from AgriLabs (AL). These cattle vaccine brands will complement the company’s growing vaccine portfolio, including the recently approved Viralign 6, the only modified-live combination vaccine that, according to the company, protects against bovine viral diarrhea (BVD) virus 1b.

USDA approves Vista vaccines for pregnant cows

November 8, 2013
Beef and dairy producers can now vaccinate pregnant cows – and calves nursing pregnant cows – against bovine reproductive and respiratory diseases with Vista, a modified-live viral (MLV) vaccine line from Merck Animal Health. Reproductive diseases account for economic losses of $1 billion annually, according to the company, and bovine respiratory disease (BRD) is the most prevalent disease in calves older than 30 days. Approved by the USDA, the new indication adds another level of protection and management flexibility.
