Ag Machinery Conference 2011: New location, expands program and events

The annual 2011 Ag Machinery Conference (AMC), a three-day agriculture engineering and education conference, will be held May 2, 3 and 4 at the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center in downtown Waterloo, Iowa.New for 2011, the Ag Machinery Conference will hold its opening ceremony at the Cedar Valley TechWorks on the Monday, May 2. The evening’s events will kick off with comments by 2011 AMC chairman Jim Evans of John Deere, and the mayor of the city of Waterloo, followed by a tour of the National Ag-Based Lubricants Center.

Label upgrade for DuPont Velpar L herbicide allows more pasture grazing and harvest options

Beef and forage producers now have more grazing and haying flexibility when using DuPont Velpar L herbicide for smutgrass control on Bermuda grass and bahiagrass acres. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has granted DuPont registration approval for a broader label that allows livestock to be grazed on pasture immediately following a broadcast application of Velpar L at rates of 4.5 pints per acre or less.

WLIC honors board members at annual meeting

Three new faces were welcomed to the Wisconsin Livestock Identification Consortium Board of Directors at the WLIC Annual Meeting held March 1 at Wisconsin Farm Bureau. Brian Bolan from Wisconsin State Fair, Dan Sutherland from Johnsonville Sausage, and Tom DeMuth from AgSource were all welcomed to the Board of Directors. Dr. Thomas McKenna of Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory and Richard Keller of Wisconsin Farmers Union were re-elected for their second term.
