The Center for Food Integrity (CFI) will host a diverse roster of panelists for its breakout session on Food Animal Well-Being during the 6th annual Food System Summit: Food Choices - Challenges - Realities. Moderated by Lisa Keefe, managing editor of MeatingPlace, the panel will feature four industry representatives, including a farm owner, a third-party animal welfare verifier, a restaurant executive and an animal welfare activist, who will each explore the topic of food animal well-being.

For the fourth year, Toyota will donate a new Tundra to World Ag Expo's FFA Toyota Tundra Giveaway. Toyota and California FFA chapters are working together with World Ag Expo to support FFA programs in schools throughout California. Tickets are available from FFA members, online at www.WorldAgExpo.com or at ticket gates during World Ag Expo for a suggested donation of $5.

World Dairy Expo has become well respected as an elite dairy cattle show, and also as a source for tapping into the latest research and cutting-edge technologies for the dairy industry. Many of the Expo Seminars, as well as, the Dairy Forage Tool Box Seminars qualify attendees for continuing education credits. The American Registry of Professional Animal Scientists (ARPAS) and the American Association of Veterinary State Boards’ (AASVB) Registry of Approved Continuing Education (RACE) are issuing additional credits for their members who attend the seminars.

AgriLabs' Vice President of Marketing, Jim Glassford, will present the winners of the AgriLabs Dr. Bruce Wren Continuing Education Awards at the 44th annual meeting of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners. These annual awards honor Dr. Bruce Wren, a long-time AgriLabs Technical Services veterinarian, in recognition of his lifelong commitment to practical and formal continuing education for veterinarians.

Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc., (BIVI) announced Dr. Albrecht Kissel, as its new president and CEO. Kissel will resume responsibilities over U.S. domestic sales and marketing, research and development, and manufacturing operations for BIVI effective Sept. 1.

The Center for Dairy Excellence offers the Student Leader Scholarship Program to provide recognition, encouragement and financial assistance to outstanding students enrolled in academic programs that support the dairy industry. In 2011, the center had 23 applicants. Seven individuals were selected by the center's Board of Directors to receive $1,000 scholarships.

New rules on the handling of Ohio farm animals that take effect later this month will make the state a leader in setting standards for livestock care, according to state officials, industry representatives and animal welfare advocates. The Ohio Department of Agriculture recently held meetings around the state to introduce the new requirements for feeding, restraining, housing and maintaining the health of a full range of animals including poultry, cattle, pigs, horses, sheep, goats and alpacas.
