The USDA’s August World Ag Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) report left the outlook for 2018 milk production unchanged, but raised the 2019 forecast based on slightly higher cow numbers and increased milk per cow.
The long-awaited launch of Dairy Revenue Protection insurance coverage will be in early October, providing dairy farmers with another tool to manage income risk in 2019.
First quarter export-assisted sales are the equivalent of 740.1 million pounds of milk on a milkfat basis. That’s the equivalent of the average annual production of 32,261 U.S. dairy cows.

Cooperatives Working Together (CWT) provided the content on this page. CWT was designed by America’s dairy farmers to benefit all U.S. dairy farmers. It is a voluntary, producer-funded program developed by National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF) to strengthen and stabilize producer prices.
Participating producers contribute four cents per hundredweight of milk produced to fund the program. For membership information go to Cooperative Working Together.

More milk for Michigan food banks
U.S. dairy marketers kept the export growth streak alive during June despite anticipated headwinds from tariffs. In terms of value and volume, June marked the eighth consecutive month of export growth, according to the U.S. Dairy Export Council’s Marc Beck.
