Alltech Canada (AC) recently celebrated its 25th anniversary at its Canadian headquarters in Guelph, Ontario. AC was founded in 1988 and now has offices strategically located across the country.

DeLaval recently sold its 10,000th Voluntary Milking System (VMS) to Glenirvine Farms in Fergus, Ontario. As a pioneer of automated milking systems, the company obtained its first voluntary milking patent in 1982, and through a subsidiary company installed on-farm milking robots in Holland in the early 1990s.

Dairy Farmers of Ontario (DFO) says that construction has begun on a new state-of-the art research facility at the University of Guelph. This new dairy research facility at the Elora Research Station is a joint project involving the Agricultural Research Institute of Ontario (ARIO), the university and Ontario dairy industry stakeholders.

At a Dairy Farmers of Nova Scotia (DFNS) special members meeting Aug. 2, the 176 licensed producers present overwhelmingly passed a motion to reaffirm support of the quota cap policy and direct the board to rescind its decision to remove the cap. The motion passed 163 to two; only one person abstained.

To celebrate and honour the late Andrea Crowe of Hi-Calibre Holsteins of Burntcoat, N.S., and her legacy as a passionate Holstein breeder, exhibitor and community-minded individual, a committee of her friends are creating an annual award.

Members of the Ridgetown Agri-Food Foundation (RAFF) recently accepted a donation of $200,000 by DuPont Pioneer, an advanced seed company.

More than 500 people attended the 100th anniversary celebration for 4-H Canada on May 30 at the Fairmount Winnipeg Hotel, where several speakers honoured the organization and its service during the past century.

In May, Dairy Farmers of Canada (DFC) was pleased to announce the finalists for the new Dairy Farm Sustainability Award.

This award aims to recognize farms with innovative management practices that go beyond industry standards and meet several sustainability goals to improve mainly the environmental but also the social and economic impact of dairy farming in Canada.
