In the wake of the upcoming implementation of the Comprehensive Economic Trade Agreement, which will eventually permit a greater quantity of European cheese to enter our domestic market, and the recent conclusion of the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal, Dairy Farmers of Canada (DFC) felt it even more imperative to do all that was within its power to ensure that Canadian cheese remain top-of-mind among both its key consumers and emerging markets in the crucial final quarter of 2015.

Hypocalcemia (low blood calcium) is one of the most common and costly health issues affecting transition dairy cows. The Animate website has been relaunched by Phibro Animal Health Corp. to help dairy producers understand more about hypocalcemia and learn how to reduce the risk through proper nutrition and management.

Western Canada now has an organized, regional group of hoof care professionals. The Western Canadian Certified Hoof Trimmers Association (WCCHTA) recently celebrated its founding, and in August, the group hosted one of its first official events as an association, a four-day hoof trimmer certification program in central Alberta.
