Eric Hibbard Area Sales Manager Clovis, New Mexico Alltech

What education are you bringing with you to this position?
I graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in agribusiness and business management. After graduating with my bachelor’s, I enrolled in additional animal science courses while working for the dairy extension research department. I also attended the Southern Great Plains Dairy Consortium in Clovis, New Mexico in 2007 and 2009.

Please describe your agricultural background.
I was born and raised in Gilbert, Arizona and grew up on both my father’s and grandfather’s dairies. At an early age, I learned responsibility, how to dairy and ultimately the importance of hard work.

When I attended the University of Arizona my true passion for the industry unfolded. I worked as an assistant to the dairy extension department where I continued to learn about the industry and the importance of the science behind it.

What territory will you cover?
New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma, Kansas, Louisiana, and Arizona.

What are your new responsibilities?
I will be responsible for the operation of the Alltech New Mexico sales team, warehouse and office, as well as the overall promotion of Alltech products throughout the Southwest region.

What previous positions have you held?
I was the Alltech territory sales representative for Arizona and Southern California.

Who has made the biggest impact on your career?
It is hard for me to pick a single person who has impacted my career the most. I could say my wife who has supported me, or my mom who pushed me throughout my schooling. When it comes to my career, two people stand out the most.

First, my father who has taught me everything I know about business and how to work effectively with people. Secondly, my grandpa, the greatest “cow guy” I have ever known. When it comes to dairying and life in general, my grandpa is the greatest teacher I have ever had.

How will you be of most help to producers in your region or area of expertise?
Because of my experience and family ties to the industry, I bring a strong dairy background to the region. I consider myself very knowledgeable in the dairy industry and during the last few years with Alltech, I have specialized in calf health and heat stress.

Why did you choose this company?
I chose Alltech because I believe in what it stands for as a company. Alltech is constantly advancing its practices and developing new, science-driven technologies.

In addition, Alltech is family-owned and operated by Dr. Pearse Lyons, whose family is involved in many areas of the company. Coming from a background where most things revolve around family life, this sustains a great deal of value to me.

What goals would you like to accomplish while in this position?
My ultimate goal is to help producers and Alltech grow together. I want producers to see Alltech and myself as catalysts for animal health and nutrition. I will be working to make cattle healthier, more efficient, and in the end, help the producer become more profitable.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In the last year a lot has changed in my life; had you asked me this a few months ago I would have had a completely different answer. With that being said, in five years I see myself as part of the community and bridging the gap between Alltech and producers in my region. PD
