An Iowa newspaper is reporting that the state Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship has revoked the plant permit of a dairy in Buffalo Center. An Iowa administrative judge ruled in the department’s favor.
In 2012, the department conducted a number of inspections at Meinders Farm Fresh Dairy and concluded it violated the milk or milk products requirements of Iowa law, reports theGlobe Gazette.Samples collected from milk and milk products from the dairy contained bacteria and coliform counts exceeding acceptable standards for pasteurized milk products.
Because of the violations, the newspaper reported June 5, the department entered into a settlement agreement with the dairy requiring that its raw milk used for processing and each finished product would be tested twice per week for three weeks to obtain a running quality history.
The dairy failed to perform all agreed upon testing, according to the newspaper. As a result, the dairy must cease all operations and cannot sell milk or dairy products. PD
