Giltspur Scientific recently selected AgVet Associates LLC to be its CowSlips representative in the U.S. Made from highly durable PVC, the company’s products are orthopedic shoes for treating lame cattle.

“We are excited to move forward in the U.S.,” said Brian McCalmont, international sales manager for the company. “Our team is dedicated to supporting our brand and helping hoof trimmers, dairy producers and veterinarians alleviate hoof pain immediately and get cows walking on the right path to recovery.”

According to McCalmont, the privately owned Northern Ireland Company was established in 1991. Founder Dr. Ernest Logan invented the plastic orthopedic shoe for dairy cows. World-renowned, the shoes have improved the welfare of millions of dairy cows by reducing pain inflicted by lameness.

Bob Walber, president of the company, said, “It’s exciting to sell a product that is a first and only of its kind. CowSlips are the only lameness treatment application that provides increased support for the hoof wall.”

Walber and his team are continuing to establish a strong distribution network. Anyone interested in the product should contact their local animal health supplier. Visit the Giltspur Scientific website for more information. PD
