Former California Department of Food and Agriculture Secretary A.G. Kawamura recently appointed two dairy processors and a producer to the Dairy Council of California’s board of directors. The new members are Pete Garbani, director of Western Region Milk Supply for Land O’Lakes; Laura Burns, plant manager at Kraft Foods; and Kimberly Clauss, operations manager of Clauss Dairy Farms and co-owner of Hilmar Cheese.

Clauss is a third-generation dairy producer. Her father, Richard, recently ended his long service on the Dairy Council board. Clauss earned her agribusiness degree from California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo before joining the family business. Her previous industry involvement includes serving as secretary, vice chair and chair of the National Dairy Promotion and Research Board, and serving on the U.S. Dairy Export Council. PD
