In a bold move to reshape the future of dairy farming, DeLaval and John Deere joined forces a few years ago with a shared vision: to unite industry leaders, policymakers and researchers in the pursuit of more sustainable and efficient agricultural practices.
This collaboration led to the launch of the Milk Sustainability Center (MSC) in 2024, a cutting-edge digital platform powered by Dairy Data Warehouse to transform dairy operations. By making use of data on field and barn, the platform empowers farmers to make smarter, more sustainable decisions that enhance both productivity and sustainable milk production with little to no manual input. MSC aims to bring together stakeholders from across the agricultural ecosystem to support dairy farmers in developing practices that are not only efficient but also environmentally and economically sustainable.
MSC allows automatic data flow from more than 30 herd, milking and feeding software systems. Users can connect their software to reduce manual input, thus involving little time for setup and monthly updates. If your software is not on our list, you can still use MSC by inputting your data manually.
What makes MSC unique? It brings together crop, animal and feeding performance data into one seamless platform, giving you a truly holistic view of your farm.
With MSC, you can:
- Measure four main sustainability KPIs: Carbon footprint (amount of CO2e emissions vs. amount of milk produced), Farm NUE, Barn NUE and Field NUE (ratio of nutrients out and nutrients into the farm, barn and field, respectively).
- Get clear insights that help improve efficiency and reduce emissions.
- Easily invite consultants, dealers, veterinarians and partners to collaborate on the platform.
MSC is global:
- Available in 10 languages including English, Dutch, German, French (France and Canada), Italian, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish.
- MSC is available in 13 countries.
And it’s not just farmers who are seeing the benefit of MSC. In January 2025, MSC was recognized with the AE50 Award honoring the top 50 most innovative technologies in agriculture, food and biological systems worldwide.
The future of sustainable dairy is here and it’s free to get started.
