McDonald’s removes Angus Burger from menu

McDonald’s Corp. has cut the Angus Third Pounder Burgers from its menus. The franchise company announced the removal of the burger as well as the Chicken Select and Fruit and Walnut Salads on May 9, while also saying that the Angus burgers "may still play a future role on our menu."

March beef export results mixed

March exports of U.S. beef were down in volume from a year ago but edged slightly higher in value. According to statistics released by the USDA and compiled by the U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF), March beef export volume of 83,612 metric tons (mt) was down 7 percent from a year ago but export value ($440.7 million) was slightly higher.

A Missouri beef cow producer called the University of Missouri Extension this spring when he lost seven of nine calves born to first-calf heifers due to calving difficulties. Eldon Cole, a University of Missouri Extension livestock specialist with more than 40 years of experience, agreed to make a farm visit to help determine the problem.
